Rhythmic gymnastics

ABOUT

A perfect fusion of athletics and aesthetics, gymnastics ranks among the defining sports of the Olympic Games.

When rhythmic gymnastics first caught the attention of the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG) in the middle of the 20th century, its devotees were calling it "modern gymnastics". Yet its hazy history can clearly be traced to at least the last century.

COMPETITION

Rhythmic gymnastics (performed with an apparatus) is strictly a women's competition. The gymnasts, accompanied by music, perform on a 13-metre-square floor area with rope, hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon. In the individual event they perform different routines with four of the five apparatus. In the team competition, teams of five perform together once using clubs and once with two using hoops and three using ribbons.

computers and electronics and miscellaneous

Web sites like www.drugstore.com seems very useful as you can find out all type of parfums you want and by far with better prices rather than in a local shop.

A disadvantage from shopping by internet is that you aren´t sure if you will receive the original product ( it could be other product) if it will be broken..or maybe you do not receive the product never.

Online Return Policy

You may return merchandise purchased at BestBuy.com if it meets the guidelines below.

Guidelines
You may return merchandise to a Best Buy store within the U.S. or by mail to our return center. All returns must be made in original condition and include all accessories. You will receive a credit for your purchase only if it meets the criteria below. We do not offer merchandise exchanges. Learn more about how to return an online purchase.

Holiday Return Policy
Buy now with confidence! Gifts may be returned through January.

Gift purchases made between November 1, 2007 and December 24, 2007, qualify for our Holiday Return policy. Qualifying products may be returned through January 31, 2008. The other terms of our standard policy (including, but not limited to, "non-returnable items" and "restocking fee," etc.) apply. Products purchased prior to November 1 or after December 24 and non-gift purchases do not qualify for our holiday return policy. For these purchases, our standard return policy applies, which is explained in the paragraphs that follow.

Price Guarantee
Two more great reasons to buy with confidence at Best Buy. If you're about to make a purchase and discover a lower advertised price offered by a local retail competitor on the same available brand and model, let us know and we'll match that price on the spot.

Already bought? We'll refund you the price difference from our own sale price, or 110% of the difference from our competitor's sale price, up to 30 days after your purchase (14 days on select categories, 60 days for HDTVs purchased from 6/3/07 through 2/2/08). Either way, simply bring in proof of price while the lower price is in effect.

The Price Guarantee does not apply to our or our competitors' free offers, limited-quantity items, open-box items, clearance items, mail-in offers, financing or bundle offers. Learn more about the Best Buy Price Guarantee.

14-Day Return Period

2. The first tool is part of the new "Air Emission Sources" Web site, which is designed to make emissions data for six common pollutants easy to find and understand. Based on the latest National Emissions Inventory, the site uses charts and Google Earth files to answer a user’s questions. Users can look at overall emissions, emissions by type of industry, or emissions by largest polluter.

On the web:
Go to the Air Emissions Sources Web site: http://www.epa.gov/air/emissions
View information in Google Earth format about which facilities emit any of six common pollutants: http://www.epa.gov/air/emissions/where.htm
See AQI forecasts and current conditions: http://www.airnow.gov
View air quality information in Google Earth format: http://airnow.gov/index.cfm?action=google_earth.main
EPA is also using the Google Earth platform to display Acid Rain Program data: http://epa.gov/airmarkets/progress/interactivemapping.html

3.Under the Clean Air Act, EPA establishes air quality standards to protect public health and the environment. EPA has set national air quality standards for six principal air pollutants. These include:

carbon monoxide,
lead,
nitrogen dioxide,
ozone,
particulate matter (also known as particle pollution), and
sulfur dioxide.
EPA tracks the emissions from the sources of these pollutants, including how much of each pollutant (or the pollutants that form them) is emitted from various pollution sources. EPA posts the results of our analyses to this web site.

OZONE (TOPIC)
Ozone is a gas composed of three atoms of oxygen. Ozone occurs both in the Earth's upper atmosphere and at ground level. Ozone can be good or bad, depending on where it is found:

Good Ozone. Ozone occurs naturally in the Earth's upper atmosphere - 6 to 30 miles above the Earth's surface - where it forms a protective layer that shields us from the sun's harmful ultraviolet rays. Manmade chemicals are known to destroy this beneficial ozone. An area where the protective "ozone layer" has been significantly depleted-for example, over the North or South pole-is sometimes called "the ozone hole.
Bad Ozone. In the Earth's lower atmosphere, near ground level, ozone is formed when pollutants emitted by cars, power plants, industrial boilers, refineries, chemical plants, and other sources react chemically in the presence of sunlight. Ozone at ground level is a harmful air pollutant.

ACID RAIN

"Acid rain" is a broad term referring to a mixture of wet and dry deposition (deposited material) from the atmosphere containing higher than normal amounts of nitric and sulfuric acids. The precursors, or chemical forerunners, of acid rain formation result from both natural sources, such as volcanoes and decaying vegetation, and man-made sources, primarily emissions of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx) resulting from fossil fuel combustion. In the United States, roughly 2/3 of all SO2 and 1/4 of all NOx come from electric power generation that relies on burning fossil fuels, like coal. Acid rain occurs when these gases react in the atmosphere with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form various acidic compounds. The result is a mild solution of sulfuric acid and nitric acid. When sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released from power plants and other sources, prevailing winds blow these compounds across state and national borders, sometimes over hundreds of miles.
Acid rain causes acidification of lakes and streams and contributes to the damage of trees at high elevations (for example, red spruce trees above 2,000 feet) and many sensitive forest soils. In addition, acid rain accelerates the decay of building materials and paints.
Effects of Acid Rain - Surface Waters and Aquatic Animals

The ecological effects of acid rain are most clearly seen in the aquatic, or water, environments, such as streams, lakes, and marshes. Acid rain flows into streams, lakes, and marshes after falling on forests, fields, buildings, and roads. Acid rain also falls directly on aquatic habitats.

Where Does Acid Rain Affect Lakes and Streams?
Many lakes and streams examined in a National Surface Water Survey (NSWS) suffer from chronic acidity, a condition in which water has a constant low pH level. The survey investigated the effects of acidic deposition in over 1,000 lakes larger than 10 acres and in thousands of miles of streams believed to be sensitive to acidification. Of the lakes and streams surveyed, acid rain caused acidity in 75 percent of the acidic lakes and about 50 percent of the acidic streams

Effects of Acid Rain - Forests

Over the years, scientists, foresters, and others have noted a slowed growth of some forests. Leaves and needles turn brown and fall off when they should be green and healthy. In extreme cases, individual trees or entire areas of the forest simply die off without an obvious reason.

Effects of Acid Rain - Human Health

Acid rain looks, feels, and tastes just like clean rain. The harm to people from acid rain is not direct. Walking in acid rain, or even swimming in an acid lake, is no more dangerous than walking or swimming in clean water

Fine particles can also penetrate indoors. Many scientific studies have identified a relationship between elevated levels of fine particles and increased illness and premature death from heart and lung disorders, such as asthma and bronchitis.

In the eastern U.S., sulfate aerosols make up about 25 percent of fine particles. By lowering SO2 and NOx emissions from power generation, the Acid Rain Program will reduce the levels of fine sulfate and nitrate particles and so reduce the incidence and the severity of these health problems. When fully implemented by the year 2010, the public health benefits of the Acid Rain Program are estimated to be valued at $50 billion annually, due to decreased mortality, hospital admissions, and emergency room visits.

Environment web exercises 1

Every four months, an area the size of Rocky Mountain National Park is leveled in order to produce the 100 million trees worth of junk mail that invades the mailboxes of millions of Americans each year. This production and disposal of junk mail consumes more energy than 2.8 million cars and costs citizens and local governments hundreds of millions of dollars per year in collection and disposal fees.
Currently, the Center for a New American Dream is campaigning to create a national Do Not Junk Opt-Out Registry that is modeled after the widely popular Do Not Call Registry.

All direct mailers will remove your name and address from their lists if you make the proper request, but contacting just one mailer (like the Direct Marketing Association), will not get you removed from all direct mail lists. You can create personal, automatically generated forms on the New American Dream website. After completing these forms, you’ll notice a substantial reduction in direct mail, but it won’t be eliminated completely because there isn’t a way to remove yourself from all lists.
there are most likely millions of Americans willing to pay a dollar or two a year to remove themselves from the direct mailers’ lists and keep things running smoothly at the USPS. No one wants to see a neighborhood postal worker lose her job, force an entire office to close or reduce postal service.

Three years later, Americans are still waiting for a simple, companion registry in order to reduce the quantity of unwanted junk mail from direct mailers.

Corporations are the responsibles of their employees injuries.
Government should stablish laws as how to use a computer or obligate to the ventures to buy more confortable and specialized keyboard or mouse.
Workers just do their tasks, they just write with the tools the enterprise provide them and if they have injuries is because of the corporation or compensate them for the suffered injuries because of the repetitive work they must do.
Workers could also take a break or eyes break for a couple of minutes.

Copying Software

As it is logical in every pages appears that we shouldn´t copy software because it is an illegal practice.
In my opinion copying software should be legal as the programm it is expensive.
The only problem is that the copy could carry problems.
Besides, Civil penalties for copyright infringement in the United States are severe. The infringer is liable for damages suffered by the copyright owner, plus any profits of the infringer that are attributable to the copying or statutory damages of up to $150,000 for each work infringed. The maximum criminal penalties for copyright infringement in the US hold the infringer responsible for up to $250,000 and jail terms of up to five years.

So... take care about it.

File Sharing

File sharing is a easy method to download files as music, films etc. A lot of Recording industries are against theese type of programms because they loss million dollars each year and it doesn´t compensate them.
In my opinion file sharing programms shouldn´t be illegal because cd and cinema prices are extremely high, if music companies would decrease their prices maybe I would change my opinion.

Internet Plagiarism

Sometimes plagiarism is a didactical tool as children could take the Web information and make it fit in with their own work.If a child has these skills, it can be very difficult for teachers to spot.
As I have said teachers should response to cheating if the only thing you do is copy paste , but if you use the information in a good way , changing words for example the children at least would finnish reading all the information and making a summary

The Truth

Web site searchers as Google , Yahoo, Terra, Lycos etc. let us to see who is the writer of the information which appears on the web page we are in but web site searchers don´t accurate that the information is true or false.
Each person is the responsible for writing a real information but nobody is the responsible for its accuracy , just the person who writes it.

GTA ==> a violent game for society ?

I have Grand Theft Auto Game and I recognize that although it is a violent game I haven´t become crazy .
An important point is that it is not recomendable that very young children play to such of this games as in them appear much blood, and mission are always gory.
But a normal and mature person is not going to become a killer or mad. Crazy people tend to born with a brain trauma but not necesary a game is going to turn you sick.

In my opinion , if companies want to increase their profits would replace their subsidiaries to other countries as India or Rusia as their costs will decrease. Besides, if they replace homeland workers to workers in poor foreign countries they will also be benefied because the salaries they would pay them will be lower.
However, if every corporation would do the same, national wokers wouldnt work as there won´t be enough for everybody.

travel web exercise ==> 2 FINLAND (helsinky)

The country I have choosen is Finland as is a place I have always wanted to go.
Finland is in located Northern Europe, bordering the Baltic Sea, Gulf of Bothnia, and Gulf of Finland, between Sweden and Russia.
Climate: The main factor influencing Finland's climate is the country's geographical position between the 60th and 70th northern parallels in the Eurasian continent's coastal zone, which shows characteristics of both a maritime and a continental climate, depending on the direction of air flow. The mean temperature in Finland is several degrees (as much as 10°C in winter) higher than that of other areas in these latitudes, e.g. Siberia and south Greenland. The temperature is raised by the Baltic Sea, inland waters and, above all, by air flows from the Atlantic, which are warmed by the Gulf Stream.
Winter:In winter, the mean temperature remains below 0°C, but warm air flows can raise the daily high above 0°C at times. Winter usually begins in mid-October in Lapland and during November in the rest of Finland, though not until December in the southwestern archipelago.North of the Arctic Circle, part of the winter is the period known as the polar night, when the sun does not rise above the horizon at all. In the northernmost extremity of Finland, the polar night lasts for 51 days. In southern Finland, the shortest day is about 6 hours long.
Spring:In spring, the mean daily temperature rises from 0°C to 10°C. Spring begins in early April .
Summer:In summer, the mean daily temperature is consistently above 10°C. Summer usually begins in late May in southern Finland and lasts until mid-September.The highest summer temperatures in the Finnish interior are from 32°C to 35°C. Near the sea and in the islands, temperatures over 30°C are extremely rare; the highest temperature ever recorded in Helsinki is 31.6°C

Movies & Music

One of my favourites movies is "The Butterfly Effect"(2004) The title is a reference to the butterfly effect, which theorises that a change in something seemingly innocuous, such as a flap of a butterfly's wings, may cause unexpected larger changes in the future, such as a tornado. The Butterfly Effect is directed and written by Eric Bress and J. Mackye Gruber.
Evan Treborn (Ashton Kutcher), who suffered severe traumas as a boy (Logan Lerman) and a teenager (John Patrick Amedori), copes with the pain by blacking out at moments of high stress. While searching for an answer to heal his emotional wounds, he finds that when he reads from his adolescent journals, he travels back in time. There are consequences of his choices.

Another one is "Requiem for a Dream". Its a very interesting movie about drugs. The story's main characters are mother and son, Sara (Burstyn) and Harry Goldfarb (Leto), Harry's girlfriend Marion Silver (Connelly), and Harry's friend Tyrone C. Love (Wayans). The film adaptation was directed by Darren Aronofsky, and starred Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans. Burstyn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance.

Elvis prestley is already King of Rock and Roll. He became such a great singer because of his voice and great presence on the stage. His career soon took off , besides, he took part in a Tv programme. All of theese captivated the teenage audience. In 1977 he died as a result of a cardiovascular disease.

Eric Clapton had been in 3 different music bands, the Yardbirds later with Cream and finally he decided to be a single artist. Clapton took up the guitar at age 15 and created his first group, The Roosters. His grip with the guitar is known in everyworld. Layla , tears in heaven , cocaine are some of the most famous songs.

My first time surfing the net

The first time I surfered by internet was when the chats became famous, 5 years ago more or less.
It was marvellous for me as I could chat with people from other countries and share opinions and hobbies on websites as Terra or Msn . I made loyal friends and I have had the chance to meet someone later.
Later I discovered that I was able to buy or sell my own things by e-bay on a easy way , so when I had enough money I bought a Nokia mobile very cheap. It was a really bargain !! and I sold my mp3 expensiver than it really was , hehe ...
Internet has become a very useful tool in our lifes to make homeworks to read the newspaper or to look for curiosities.
Could we live without it ?
